A World of Lake and Sky

By Steven Wade Veatch

A crazed wind
    made the afternoon wild.
        A rhythmic    slosh,    slosh,    slosh
of waves crashed on a seawall
edged by rocks carpeted in moss.
Boats bobbed up and down
and rocked with the swells.

I was swept away from the
troubles of the day
while I watched the swans swim
into tomorrow.
